He was 9 years old and accompanied his grandfather, an auction clerk, to a sale near his home in Lebanon County.

At the end of the day, he was struck by the generosity of the auctioneer. The auctioneer said “Boys, get anything you want to eat and I’ll pay for it.” The boys were amazed at his kindness.

The year was 1941 and Harold Keller decided then and there that he wanted to be an auctioneer.

In August of 1960, Harold, his wife Helen and their three little girls drove from Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania to Mason City, Iowa to attend Reisch Auction School. It was a dream come true.

In the fall of 1960, he purchased a building in Mount Joy, PA. Weekly Friday night consignment sales were held at Keller’s Auction Gallery. It became a favorite gathering place for local townspeople. Saturday dances and Sock Hops were held in “Keller’s Cellar” as an effort to provide a place for the teenagers of the area.

Through the years, Harold Keller continued to develop the auction business and has enjoyed helping hundreds of sellers and thousands of buyers along the way.
